It’s that time of year to take a long, hard look in the mirror to see where we can improve. Do we need to exercise more, follow a budget or try to work on our inner-selves?

FUHGETTABOUDIT!

What we all need to do is make time for what’s important, and what’s important is appreciating the best place in the world: Brooklyn!

Here are ten things you can do this year to make sure you bleed Brooklyn.

Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge.

Nothing says “Brooklyn” more than the world-famous Brooklyn Bridge. Strap on your walking shoes and get ready to cross one of the most beautiful bridges in the world. It’s an experience you won’t want to miss for bragging rights…plus the views are stunning!

Eat a traditional Sicilian square at L&B Spumoni Gardens in Bensonhurst.

It’s impossible to choose the best pizza in Brooklyn, but L&B is up there. Those thick, Sicilian-style squares are to die for, which is why celebrities come from all over the world to have a piece. Just ask Brooklynite Joey Fatone of NSYNC who says Brooklyn is his favorite food city in the world, “It’s where I am from and I always have to go get pizza at L&B Spumoni Gardens.”

See a real life Gingerbread house.

Can you believe this ridiculously magical home sits right in the heart of Brooklyn? It’s located in Bay Ridge. Yep, the same Bay Ridge featured in Saturday Night Fever – except we’re not sure how many disco dance parties have taken place inside. This adorable, elaborate home was built in 1917 and is the perfect example of arts-and-crafts style architecture. If you’re interested, it’s for sale! $11 Million and it’s yours.

Eat cheesecake at Junior’s.

They don’t call it the World’s Most Fabulous Cheesecake for nothing. Voted the number 1 cheesecake in New York for 45 years. Yes, 45 years!

“There will never be a better cheesecake than the cheesecake they serve at Junior’s… it’s the best cheesecake in the material world.” – Ron Rosenbaum of The Village Voice

Speaking of food, have you had Grimaldi’s coal fired pizza?

If you haven’t, you’re missing out. Grimaldi’s is one of the few coal-fired ovens left in Brooklyn. They only sell whole pizzas – NO SLICES – and the line to get in is insane. But hey, roll with us on our Pizza Tour and you’ll get to skip the line!

Then there’s Dyker Heights during Christmas.

The residents of Dyker Heights go so all out for Christmas that TV specials have been made in their honor! “Dyker Lights” has the most incredibly decorated homes in the world. This should top your “to-do” list if you are anywhere near Brooklyn during Christmas.
